Phil Hunt
Summary
A 1975 graduate of the Harvard Law School, Phil Hunt is a shareholder and director of Perkins Thompson, having joined the firm on a full-time basis in 1980 following the completion of his military service with the United States Air Force. Mr. Hunt’s principal areas of practice are in estate planning and probate administration, elder law, federal and state tax law, and business transactions planning for small businesses, including sales and purchases of businesses and commercial properties.
Mr. Hunt has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© since 1999 and for inclusion in New England Super Lawyers (2010-2014), in the fields of Estate Planning & Probate. He is AV Peer Review Rated for Ethical Standards and Legal Ability by Martindale-Hubbell.

Service / Achievements
Mr. Hunt has been an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Maine Law School teaching the subject of Estate Planning (2007 – Present). He is currently serving on a Maine State Bar Association Committee to update the Maine Probate Code.
Mr. Hunt has given 20 years of service to the Town of Cumberland, including 12 years membership and chairmanship of the Cumberland Planning Board; member of the Board of Zoning Appeals, the School Building Committee, the School Facilities and Enrollment Committee, and the Growth Management Committee.
Mr. Hunt has negotiated settlement of many tax collection cases with the IRS for the VLP Tax Assistance Project.
In 2008, Mr. Hunt received a Volunteer Service Award from the Maine Board of Bar Overseers for service as an expert witness before the Grievance Commission and the Maine Supreme Judicial Court.
Mr. Hunt is a member of the Maine Medical Center Planned Giving Committee and has been actively involved with the North Yarmouth Lions Club (King Lion 2004, Secretary 2000-2003 and 2005-2010, Organizer, Enterprise Development Fund to award micro-capital grants to young people interested in starting a business, Scholarship Fund to award scholarships to college students).
